This petition for NALAXONE kits shall be passed to all citizens and families that have been prescribed opioids as a form of pain management.
Individuals and/or parents of a minor shall be advised to engage in the Rapid Revive Training course. This bill shall serve as a preventative to decrease overdose rates. Naloxone shall be available for emergency aid due to an Opioid/ Fentanyl overdose. It shall also be placed in all first aid kits as a part of the harm reduction Inventory.
As fentanyl continues to be marketed as a form of an opioid drug. The CDC states more than 70,000 lives continue to be taken each year due to this poison being laced into recreational drugs and treatment opioids for pain management. As it continues to be disguised and smuggled into the USA, the effects repeatedly cause accidental overdoses and death rates to increase daily.
This petition is in honor of the late Joseph Michael Travieso whose life ended suddenly due to the synthetic opioid fentanyl. Joey was battling cocaine addiction with acute depression and was prescribed medication to help subside his mental health breakdowns. His life came to a standstill on his 27th birthday when he collapsed in his home and was unattended for some time before being revived. His home was not occupied with the first aid amenities that could have saved his life. Therefore, we are requesting a representative to sponsor a bill and then assign it to a study committee. As the Naloxone medication continues to support individuals in need, the accessibility of it being in the hands of individuals that can save a life will be a great advantage to keep someone breathing and alive.
Sincerely,
Joey’s Mom
